Advanced Summer Institute 2007

July 16-20, 2007

New York City

We have reached capacity for the 2007 Advanced Summer Institute and are no longer accepting registraions.  Please check back for information about next year's Institute.

We are pleased to announce our second annual “Advanced Summer Institute”, specifically designed to deepen new habits of mind and develop new skills and tools for Education for Sustainability (EfS).

Join a learning community of educators in exploring the questions:

*What does the EfS paradigm look like?

*What does EfS look like within the structure of a lesson? of a curriculum?

*What type of organizational change must occur in order to support EfS in schools?

Following the workshop, participants will:

*Have a deeper understanding of classroom, school, and community commons, "that upon which we depend and for which we are all reponsible," as they are informed by:

       Systems Thinking

       Ecological Literacies

       Multiple Perspectives

*Understand the design characteristics and tools needed to create good EfS curriculum and assessment using a backwards design approach from a systems thinking perspective

*Be able to assess an organization's EfS readiness and determine the best first readiness steps using a systems thinking perspective

This workshop is for past participants of any Cloud Institute workshop of one day or longer.  It is also open to any educator interested in Education for Sustainability who can attend an introductory one-day workshop to be held on Sunday, July 15, 2007. We extend a special welcome to participants of the 2006 Advanced Summer Institute.

The cost of the five-day Advanced Summer Institute is $750, which includes a field trip, guest speaker, materials, and daily lunch. If you also need to attend our one-day Introduction, the total cost is $850.
